Mulberry Caisson PHOENIX 194 sinking after developing a hole in the concrete caisson. She rolled over and sank off the coast of Wales about 45 minutes after the picture was taken. USS Davis was on patrol with USS PLUNKETT off the Normandy Beachhead, when PLUNKETT opened fire on HMCS TRENTONIAN and the cablelayer, HMTS Monarch on 13 June 1944.
