Resembling a scene from a Hitchcock movie, seagulls line every surface at the fish dock. The trawlers would unload their catch and the fish was gutted and cleaned and the meat went into the plant. The heads, tails and everything else was simply shoveled into the water for “disposal.” HMCS TRENTONIAN was secured on the wall of this fish plant for ten days in August 1944, for boiler cleaning. HMCS TRENTONIAN at the Fish Dock

Resembling a scene from a Hitchcock movie, seagulls line every surface at the fish dock in Milford Haven. The trawlers would unload their catch and the fish was gutted, cleaned and the meat went into the plant for processing. The heads, tails and everything else was simply shoveled into the water for “disposal.”

This photo was taken from the Canadian corvette, HMCS TRENTONIAN while she was secured on the wall of this fish plant for ten days in August 1944, for boiler cleaning. Many of her ship’s company described the foul aromas penetrating every space in their ship and that following this event, seafood was never again served from the galley.
