HMCS TRENTONIAN passes the stern of USS LST-377, landing ship discharging men and material to the beach. The ship would drive the bow up onto the beach and just before grounding a large anchor was dropped from the stern. Once unloaded the ship would use a winch to pull itself from the beach towards the anchor. In this photo the anchor chain is visible from the stern of the ship.
