SS Royalite, owned by Imperial Oil Ltd in Sydney Harbour in 1942. The merchant ship was built in 1916 in Collingwood, ON and made history as the first tanker built in Canada. The Laker was immediately pressed in to ocean service during the First World War, making several Atlantic crossings. Later, Royalite returned to war service on the Atlantic during World War II. In her final years she was renamed Imperial Welland.
