On 4 May 2012, Roger was invited by the Port Hope Branch of the Navy League of Canada to be the guest speaker at the annual Battle of Atlantic Dinner.
A wonderful meal was served by Branch 30, Royal Canadian Legion to the approx. 60 guests and dignitaries. Also attending the dinner was renowned Canadian Naval author and historian, Ken Macpherson.
Roger spoke to the guests about the importance of listening to the stories of our older generations and the rich history they have given us. Also the responsibility of telling our own stories and experiences to the younger generations of Canadians.
Roger concluded his talk with, “Through our own life experiences, we live our future history and it is each of our responsibility to be tomorrows historian and ensure our history is given to our younger generations.”
Following the dinner, Roger was able to sign several copies of his book, Warships of the Bay of Quinte and meet with many of the guests.
