HMCS TRENTONIAN had a relatively short career in her commission. Just fifteen months from the time she was commissioned into the RCN at Kingston, Ontario until she was torpedoed in the English Channel. During that time her compliment was maintained at 90 to over 100 sailors.
Many RCN ships suffered from transfers of personnel. A single convoy escort job was considered to have given a green crew “experience” and the new-experienced sailors would then be moved to other newly commissioned ships. TRENTONIAN was fortunate, in she maintained over 55 % of her original crew for the duration of her commission.
