Roger is very pleased to announce that Dundurn Publishing will be publishing his second book. Titled WHITE ENSIGN FLYING, it is the story of the RCN corvette, HMCS TRENTONIAN.
The book follows the life of the ship from construction in Kingston, Ontario, commissioning into the RCN, training a new crew in Bermuda and Canada’s East Coast. The story continues when TRENTONIAN goes to war, escorting convoys in the North Atlantic and then moving to the UK and action off the beaches of Normandy and the English Channel.
TRENTONIAN is involved in the last friendly fire incident with the Americans when she is attacked by a US Navy destroyer and ends when TRENTONIAN is sunk by a German submarine on 22 February 1945, killing six of her crew.
The story is told from official records gathered from archives and interviews with over 30 of the men who served in her. The crew have provided their personal photos of their lives in the ship and there will be over 300 of these photos included in the book, giving TRENTONIAN a rich and vivid history.
Expect the release of the book in April 2014 and please watch this page for updates on its progress.
